ENGL 305 - Topics in Theory and Method A focused examination of either: 1) a particular topic in the long tradition of philosophical and conceptual writing known as theory; 2) a specific methodological debate in literary studies relevant to Macalester English majors; or 3) the work of a single critic/theorist (or group of theorists) and his or her (or their) oeuvre(s). Topics might include deconstruction, Michel Foucault, formalism, Fredric Jameson, the Enlightenment, the Frankfurt School, the Black Atlantic, or global feminisms. Offered occasionally. Prerequisite(s): One 100-level ENGL course. ENGL 205 or comparable preparation recommended. (4 Credits)
