ANTH 253 - Comparative Muslim CulturesCross-Listed as An introduction to the diversity of Muslim societies in the Arab world, Europe, Africa, North America, and South and South-East Asia. We trace Islam as a local and transnational lived experience, explore theoretical arguments from the humanities and social sciences, and examine multiple case studies, illuminating ritual, ethnicities, gender, education, the media, travel, migration, citizenship, politics, conflict, social change, and stereotypes about Islam and Muslim societies.
