ENGL 313 - Renaissance Literature Study of early modern literature (poetry, drama, and prose) by Edmund Spenser, Christopher Marlowe, Philip Sidney, Mary Sidney Herbert, Ben Jonson, Francis Bacon, Elizabeth Cary, Mary Wroth, and other sixteenth- and seventeenth-century writers. Discussion and analysis will focus on the inventiveness of form and the relationship between text and historical context. Prerequisite(s): One 100-level course in English. Offered occasionally.
