ENGL 137 - Novel

This introduction to the study of the novel pays special attention to the genre’s history and to the cultural and political significance of individual texts. Authors and texts will vary according to instructor, but all sections will consider the development of the novel across time, include a range of author identities and styles, and provide instruction in intensive close reading and literary analysis.
