BIOL 402 - Seminar in Virology This seminar course will focus on the molecular biology of viruses, including prions and retroviral vectors. Topics will include bacterial, plant and animal viral infection and replication cycles, morphology, oncogenesis, and virus-host interactions. Viruses of epidemiologic and biotechnological importance, including new and emergent viruses, will be emphasized. Students will read current literature, lead class discussions and prepare a research proposal. Three lecture/discussion hours each week. Prerequisite(s): BIOL 312 or BIOL 357 ; junior or senior standing; or permission of instructor. Offered occasionally. (4 Credits)
