BIOL 412 - Seminar in Cancer Biology

This course centers on the molecular events underlying the development of human cancer, including the cell cycle control, DNA damage, tumor microenvironment, chemotherapy and drug resistance. The ability to understand malignant transformation of cells on the molecular level and to critically evaluate existing literature in the field are two major goals of this course. We will discuss the primary literatures from the field with a goal of developing critical thinking skills in the analysis of cancer-related research. Three lecture/discussion hours each week. Prerequisite(s): BIOL 190 , BIOL 200 , and junior or senior standing; or permission of instructor. Offered occasionally. (4 Credits)
