HISP 343 - Culture and Politics in Spain from Civil War to Today This course presents an overview of the evolution of life in Spain since the Civil War, death of Franco, through the socialist period and Spain’s entry in the European Union until today. Art, music, literature and film will serve as the basis for lecture and discussions of some of Spain’s current challenges and achievements, namely, unemployment, immigration, language and identity, women’s rights, terrorism, and the impact of the Euro on the economy and on everyday life. This course satisfies the Area 4 requirement for the Hispanic and Latin American Studies major. Prerequisite(s): or or consent of the instructor. Alternate years. (4 Credits)
