THDA 262 - Performing Feminisms

Cross-Listed as
Feminisms in performance - whether on an actual theater stage or in offstage force fields of politics, history and culture - are the concern of this course. Through feminist, queer and performance theories of the body, representation, identification and spectatorship, and through the reading of plays, students will engage with the historic and contemporary practices of feminisms and performance-making. Attending performances, viewing films and performance documents will contribute to students’ capacities to write critically about feminist performance practices. Prerequisites: sophomore standing or permission of instructor. Prerequisite(s): sophomore standing or permission of instructor. Offered alternate spring semesters. (4 Credits)
