HISP 443 - The Reality of Contemporary Spain: Challenges and Dilemmas This course presents an overview of the evolution of life in Spain since the death of Franco, through the socialist period and Spain’s entry into the European Union until today. Art, music, literature and film will serve as the bases for lectures and discussions of some of Spain’s current challenges and achievements, namely, unemployment, immigration, language and identity, terrorism, and the impact of the Euro on the economy and on everyday life. This course satisfies the Area 4 requirement for the Hispanic & Latin American Studies major. Prerequisite(s): or or consent of the instructor. Alternate years. (4 Credits)
