ECON 227 - Adam Smith and Karl Marx The objective of this course is to study the lives and the original writings of two of the most important scholars in the history of economic thought. Adam Smith, the patron saint of laissez-faire capitalism, was the founding father of modern economics, as well as the intellectual predecessor of Marx. Marx’s historical and political vision embraced an equally large panorama. Prerequisite(s): ECON 119 Alternate years. (4 Credits)
