MCST 286 - Media and Cultural Studies of Latin America

Cross-Listed as INTL and LATI 286.
This course explores cultural and media industries and texts - including folktales, art, performance, sport, film, and television - within their socio-political and historical context in Latin America. Organized around case studies that will allow us to apply learned cultural theories and methodologies to specific texts and historical moments, this class is imagined as a cultural studies “laboratory” in which we will collectively investigate varied topics in the field.
